Previously Veil Private Messenger. Because of trademark issues with the name Veil, we've rebranded to Vardum ahead of our independent audit. Same app, same team, same encryption.

Now taking orders · The Vardum Phone

Private at every layer, from the Wi-Fi radio to your last message.

A Google Pixel running GrapheneOS ("Graph" for short), the hardened, Google-free version of Android, with Vardum and your favourite apps installed before it reaches you. Graph protects the phone and its network. Vardum protects your conversations and private files: on the way, on our server, and on the other person's phone.

Set up for you · Your apps

  • Tell us the apps you use, including your VPN, and we install and set them up before it ships
  • Bought new or refurbished, depending on your price range, or we can customise the Pixel you already have
  • You sign in yourself. We never ask for, or touch, your accounts or passwords

Unlocked

Unlock it, and Vardum's already on your home screen.

GrapheneOS's own apps, including the Vanadium browser and the Auditor app, the apps you asked us to add, and Vardum ready for you to create or restore your identity. No Google search bar, no carrier extras, nothing you didn't ask for.

  • Vardum on the home screen, ready to create a new identity or restore with your 24 words
  • Your VPN installed, with "block connections without VPN" switched on
  • Your apps, from their official sources. You sign in to them yourself

Two layers, one setup

Graph is the locked house. Vardum is the safe inside it, and the sealed envelope you post.

Neither one covers everything on its own. Here's who handles what.

Someone takes your phone

GraphCovers this

An optional duress PIN, off until you set one, wipes the entire phone, eSIMs included. Auto reboot and USB-off-while-locked make the phone itself hard to break into.

VardumCovers this

Optional decoy and duress passwords, off until you set them. The decoy opens an empty, working Vardum. The duress password erases Vardum and also asks our server to delete your records, which wiping the phone alone can’t do.

Someone watches your Wi-Fi

GraphCovers this

VPN lockdown sends everything through your VPN, and a new random Wi-Fi address for every connection stops networks recognising the phone.

VardumCovers this

Everything you send is encrypted on your phone first, so the network sees only scrambled data going to our server.

An app you installed is snooping

GraphCovers this

Turn off an app’s Network or Sensors access, and give it only the files and contacts you choose.

VardumNot its job

Vardum can’t control other apps. That’s the phone’s job.

Someone gets into our server

GraphNot its job

The phone can’t protect what’s stored on someone else’s computer.

VardumCovers this

Our server holds only encrypted messages it can’t read, and it never stores your network address.

The person you call or message

GraphNot its job

The phone has no say in what the other person’s phone can see.

VardumCovers this

Calls go through our relay, so the other person never learns your IP address, and messages can be set to delete on both phones.

You get a new phone

GraphNot its job

A wipe or a new phone starts the phone layer fresh.

VardumCovers this

Your 24 words bring your Vardum identity back on any phone, including an iPhone. Chats move over with a transfer link.

7–14 days from order to your door in Australia 14–28 days internationally

To order, email us with the package you want. We confirm your details and the delivery address, and only send an invoice once your phone is in stock and ready to set up (for your own Pixel, once we've received it). Your order is placed when the invoice is paid; if we then miss the delivery window, you can have a full refund. International orders may attract import duties and taxes in your country. See the terms and the warranty; it is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

How we sell

  • We sell phones only. We don't sell, supply, activate or recommend SIM cards or eSIMs, including international or travel SIMs, and we earn nothing from any mobile provider. You connect the phone to a service in your own name, with a provider you choose.
  • We never alter the IMEI. We never alter, hide or remove a phone's IMEI or any other manufacturer identifier. Every phone keeps the identifiers Google gave it.
  • Direct to named customers only. No resellers or referral codes. The name on the order must match the payment and delivery details, and we're paid by card or bank transfer against a Vardum Technology invoice. We don't take cash, crypto-only or bulk orders.
  • Once it ships, it's yours. Vardum cannot see, lock, wipe, track or manage your phone. GrapheneOS updates come from the GrapheneOS project. The Vardum app's server carries encrypted messages it can't read, and sees what our who-can-see-what page lists.
  • Duress features start switched off. Duress, decoy and self-destruct features are off when you receive the phone, and only you can turn them on; we won't set them up for you. They're there for theft, stalking and coercion. Using them to destroy data after police, border officers or a court lawfully demand access can itself be a crime.
  • For lawful personal privacy. Protection against theft, stalking, coercion, data breaches and corporate espionage. We refuse orders where the buyer says, or the circumstances suggest, the phone is meant to help commit a crime or avoid a lawful investigation.

Good to know

Set up, then yours

Your apps are ordinary app installs on top of the official, unmodified GrapheneOS release, which ships with a locked bootloader, so it keeps getting GrapheneOS updates. You can check it yourself with GrapheneOS's own Auditor app.

Years of updates

We use Pixel 8 and newer, which Google supports with security updates for at least seven years from launch.

Independent projects

GrapheneOS is an independent open-source project. Vardum isn't affiliated with it or endorsed by it; we build on the phone it makes possible.
